20th-Nov-2013 01:31 pm - The Anniversary Watch of The Movie
sensitive
Sharpiefan posted on Dreamwith that:
As has been politely requested, I am announcing a Watch of the Naval Romance (also known as Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World) to be held at Dreamwidth on MandC_Watch
on Sunday the 24th November (being the anniversary of the founding of perfect_duet) at 20:00 hours GMT (21:00 European, 15:00 EST).

Please join in, you do not have to have an account with DW. The more the merrier will the mayhem be.

In case you are wondering? We are at the MandC Watch over on Dreamwidth. :)

And we have started and are now two points off the starboard bow.
sensitive
We are running a survey on Dreamwidth about a good time for a watch of the movie. This is what sharpie posted:

I just want to do a quick survey-ish type thing to work out when would be a good time to hold the next Watch?

I can't do anything this weekend (it'd be really short notice anyway!) because I'm away from Friday to Saturday and I won't be taking the laptop.)

Also, I think - and correct me if I'm wrong - that the weekend after is Thanksgiving, which probably means that US fans would be too busy to join in.

So, my thinking is that the first weekend of December is probably the earliest we could do it. Or we could have a mid-week Watch if people would like?

What sort of time would suit you guys best? I'd prefer it in the evening, with a start time of 7:30 or 8:00pm GMT (8:30 or 9:00 pm European). But would that be too early or too late for you?

Please to hop over there and let us know your thoughts.Join us if you can. The more, the merrier. You do not have to have an account at DW, but can log in with openID too. :)

They showed The Naval Romance there

This reminded me that it's been such a long time since we watched it...Would there be any interest on the weekend around September 24th. The mandc_read will have finished another book in the Aubreyad, and most people who were on holiday might have returned?!

It seems Fox never heard Mr Crowe in all the previous years, when he had been hinting about a sequel.

boxer_ferret pointed out a facebook page, so whoever is on it, why not go and give some support on the Facebook page:

What would Jack say if he knew that his dear Surprise would be in a pirate movie?

Admittedly, the credits say she's Continental Sloop Providence based on the East Coast in Rhode Island’s …Bay. This 110 foot sloop is a recreation of a very historic Revolutionary War naval vessel. Originally known as the Katy and launched in the 1760’s, she sailed the Eastern seaboard and the Carribbean as an armed merchant ship. It is believed that she may even have had experience as a whaler and pe… Can't read more

Do look at picture 8! That figure head! If that isn't dear, dear Surprise!

We have all done several watches now, and each shared plenty of squee, comments and thoughts about the Naval Romance (Some good, some bad; most completely cracktastic...) - but can you remember back to your first ever watch? What was it that went through your brain then? So I put it to you, fellow Aubreyad fans:

What was your very first reaction to this movie? What was the first thought that went through your head when you saw MandC at the cinema or put it on the DVD player for your very first viewing?

Mine, I confess, was "Is this ship run by kids??"

Followed swiftly by "Oh, there are adults aboard! That's alright then."
